When each model’s training knowledge stops — and which answer engines can pull live web results anyway. Handy for knowing whether AI already knows about your latest products.

Dates are provider-stated or widely reported and approximate — always verify with the model provider. Engines with live web access can cite current pages regardless of cutoff, which is why keeping your site crawlable (see the Robots.txt checker) matters for AI visibility.
A single, current reference of the training knowledge-cutoff dates for the major AI models — the models behind ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity — so you know how recent each one’s built-in knowledge is. Models with live browsing can still fetch newer information, but the cutoff tells you what they “know” by default.
If your brand, product or a key update landed after a model’s cutoff, the model won’t know about it unless it browses the live web or you’ve earned enough presence on the sources it was trained on. Cutoffs are a reminder that being cited across the broader web — reviews, roundups, communities — is how you get into a model’s knowledge in the first place.
The date a model’s training data ends. Anything that happened after — new products, new reviews — isn’t in the model’s baseline knowledge unless it can retrieve live web results.
No — each model and version differs, and some (Perplexity, ChatGPT search, Gemini, Grok) can pull live web results regardless of their training cutoff.
For engines with live retrieval, keep your site crawlable (allow AI bots), well-structured, and cited elsewhere. That way current pages get picked up even if they’re after the training cutoff.
